A Guide For Mental Health Resources At Different Canadian Universities

At Ensightful, our Marketing Team comes from a variety of different Canadian University backgrounds. In honour of Mental Health Awareness Month, we have come together to compile a list of different mental health resources available at UBC, BCIT, Ryerson, Concordia and Guelph.

UBC

At the University of British Columbia, there are numerous resources available to full time and part-time students. From individual counselling at the wellness centre, call centres, peer support groups and self-help tools, there are many ways UBC can help you stay mentally healthy throughout your education. Through the UBC Student Health Services, you can find information about all the resources you have access to as a UBC student. Below is a list of resources that may be a good fit for you!

Counselling services:

UBC Counselling Services offers services within British Columbia for students looking for mental health support, either in person (pre-COVID) or virtually.

UBC Student Assistant Program (SAP) is a resource available anywhere 24/7 for counselling and life coaching.

UBC Virtual Group Counselling is available within British Columbia for students who are looking to share their personal and wellbeing concerns in a safe group environment.

Here2Talk is a resource for single session counselling available anywhere for phone/online chats.

BCIT

At the British Columbia Institute of Technology, there are also resources available to full and part-time students. To support you throughout your education, there are many ways BCIT can help you find the resources to stay healthy during these difficult times.

Ryerson University

At Ryerson University, you will find many available resources by visiting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Website. This website is a resource for all students and community members to learn more about how they can get help related to counselling, medical care, sexual violence, and well-being in the workplace.

  • Consent Comes First Ryerson is a resource for survivors, bystanders and those who want to learn more about sexual violence. This resource offers ongoing events and mandatory events during Frosh Week for students.
  • There is also help and resources for students who are seeking academic and mental health counselling at Ryerson University.

These resources are available for all students and are aiming to foster mental health and wellbeing for all members of the community. If you are in need of crisis services, your university is there to help you. Concordia University

Concordia University has a health and wellness centre to help you with your mental health. This includes self-help tools, mental health helplines and text-lines, treatment options, and addiction resources.

University of Guelph

The University of Guelph has numerous resources for students who are in need of help when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. The Student Wellness website has a wide variety of resources that can help you in terms of academics, mental health, sexual violence and physical health. Below are a list of resources that may be helpful for you!
